Scottish Thistle Spray Brooch, Marcasite, Stamped SILVER
£35.00
A well-modelled brooch formed as a spray of thistles, the fan-shaped flower heads with a frosted, radially-ridged finish, the calyxes and spiked foliage set throughout with marcasite. Mid-20th century Scottish work. Weight 13.8g. MARKS: stamped SILVER, with no assay office mark, standard mark or date letter, so the piece cannot be dated or assayed from its marks. At 13.8g it exceeds the 7.78g hallmarking exemption weight and is therefore offered as STAMPED SILVER, UNHALLMARKED, and not as silver. Condition: pin and catch intact and working. Tarnish and darkening consistent with age, deliberately left undisturbed - heavy polishing dulls marcasite and strips the contrast the design depends on. The identification, condition assessment and valuation in this listing were produced by an AI analysis of photographs only. ALL PURCHASES ARE MADE ENTIRELY AT THE BUYER'S OWN RISK. Sold as seen. These are second-hand goods and there are no returns.
