KGV GBP 1 Deep Green Seahorse (SG 403) - UNCERTIFIED

£1125.00

King George V One Pound deep green Seahorse, SG 403, apparently mint. Mounted face-up on black card inside a clear protective sleeve, so only the front can be assessed. CENTRING: measured from the scan, margins from perforation line to frame are left 82 / right 85 units and top 71 / bottom 91 - essentially perfect left-to-right and only slightly high vertically, which is genuinely good centring by Seahorse standards. PERFORATIONS: all four sides complete, teeth full length and evenly punched, all four corner perforations present; no short, blunt or obviously re-cut teeth visible. COLOUR: bright, fresh, unfaded deep blue-green with strong contrast; engraving crisp throughout including the fine background shading and the wreath. PAPER: clean cream-white, no toning, no foxing, no visible surface scuff, no crease or bend detectable on the face; one tiny dark speck sits just inside the lower right frame corner. CANCEL: NONE - no postal mark, no manuscript, no fiscal pen stroke and no punch hole anywhere on the face. SIZE: approximately 43 x 26 mm perforation to perforation, consistent with a genuine Seahorse and not a reduced photographic reproduction. CERTIFICATION WARNING - READ THIS FIRST. The KGV One Pound green Seahorse is among the MOST HEAVILY FAKED STAMPS IN BRITISH PHILATELY. Forgeries, repairs, re-perforation, regumming, and cleaned fiscally-used examples sold as mint are all common and NONE of them can be ruled out from a photograph. Gum cannot be seen because the stamp is mounted face-up on card inside a sleeve, so REGUMMING IS NOT EXCLUDED. Thins, hidden repairs and re-perforation are equally not excluded. NO AUTHENTICATION HAS BEEN ATTEMPTED. This stamp is offered UNCERTIFIED and the asking price deliberately reflects a real possibility that it is not genuine or not sound. The buyer is strongly urged to purchase subject to, or immediately obtain, a current BPA or RPSL certificate. A sound, well-centred mounted-mint example WITH a clean certificate realistically makes GBP 1000-2200 at auction; without one it may be worth a small fraction of that. BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK. IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ BEFORE BUYING. The identification, condition assessment and valuation in this listing were produced by an AI analysis of scanned images only. No stamp has been examined in hand by a philatelic expert, and no authentication or certification has been carried out. Gum, thins, creases, repairs, re-perforation and cleaned or removed cancels frequently do not show in a scan and have NOT been ruled out. Catalogue (SG) numbers, plate numbers and shade attributions are indicative only and are not guaranteed. Mint stamps are described at mounted-mint level because gum cannot be assessed from an image. ALL PURCHASES ARE MADE ENTIRELY AT THE BUYER'S OWN RISK. Nothing in this listing is a guarantee of authenticity, condition, catalogue attribution or value. Sold as seen. Buyers are strongly advised to satisfy themselves independently and to obtain an expert opinion (BPA or RPSL) before relying on any attribution.
